Sell My Scrap ("we", "us", "our") operates the sellmyscrap.net website and the Sell My Scrap Android app (together, the "Service"). This page explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled.
Information We Collect
When you create an account or schedule a pickup, we collect:
- Account information: full name, email address, and mobile number.
- Pickup details: pickup address, area, preferred date, and the scrap items/categories you're selling.
- Photos (optional): if you choose to attach photos of your scrap items when scheduling a pickup, using either your camera or your photo gallery. This is entirely optional and only used to help our pickup crew identify your items.
- Saved addresses: any addresses you save to your account for faster future pickups.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To schedule, confirm, and complete doorstep scrap pickups.
- To contact you about your pickup (confirmation calls, status updates).
- To calculate estimated payouts based on current scrap rates.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.
Where Your Data Is Stored
Account data, pickup requests, and photos are stored using Supabase, a third-party backend provider that gives us authentication, database, and file storage services. Supabase processes this data on our behalf under its own security and privacy practices.
If you contact us through the pickup request form on our website as a guest (without creating an account), that message is delivered via Web3Forms, a third-party form-delivery service, directly to our support inbox.
Camera and Photo Access (Android App)
The app lets you optionally attach photos to a pickup request, either by taking a new photo or choosing one from your gallery. The app only accesses the camera or gallery when you tap to add a photo — it does not access either in the background, and does not request broad storage permissions; photo selection uses Android's own system camera and photo picker.
Data Sharing
We share pickup details (name, phone, address, items) with our own pickup crew so they can complete your collection. We do not share your information with any other third party for their own marketing purposes.
Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your account and pickup history for as long as your account is active, so you can track past pickups. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time — see how to delete your account for instructions. We process deletion requests within 7 business days.
Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for users who are legally able to enter into a service agreement (typically 18 and older) and is not directed at children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
